Grants & Donations Made

As at 1st October 2026, the Parish Council had received no requests or applications from third party organisations for donations or grants to be made under its newly-adopted Donations Policy.  Please click this link to find out more about what grants might be available and how to apply.

For a number of years, the Parish Council has been pleased to be able to make an annual donation to the Parish Church of St Helen's, in Ainderby Steeple, by way of a contribution towards the cost of grass-cutting and general maintenance of the War Graves section of the church's grave-yard. Until 2024 the amount of this donation was held at £250 per annum, but this was most recently increased to £350 per annum from 2025-26, at the request of the then retiring (and long-standing) Hambleton District Councillor, Brian Phillips.

The Council's current intention is, subject to the requirement for an annual re-affirmation during the Council's budget-setting process in November (ie as is the case for all the Council's future expenditure commitments), to continue with this annual contribution to St Helen's Church at the present level, but that this will be recorded in future under the new Section 137 budget heading and not as a general expense, notwithstanding that the amount of the donation exceeds the Council's new Donations Policy S137 limit of £250 per annum per application.  It is deemed that, in this limited situation, any existing, recurring donations will be considered to be exempt from the rules applying to new S137 applications in respect of either the maximum donation amount per annum or the requirement for formal re-application documentation to be submitted each time.
